Claudia Rose Cooley, age 59, of Erie, passed away on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at St. Vincent Hospital. She was born in Erie on October 31, 1961 to the late L. B. and Ruby (Ulmer) Cooley, Sr.
Claudia was a member of The New Making A Difference Ministry International for 15 years where she was a praise dancer and a head cook of the kitchen. She enjoyed volunteering in the community, cooking, spending time with her grandkids, family, traveling, going to the casino, and praising God. She graduated from East High School in Erie, she was a business owner of Destiny’s Cleaning Service, in 1980, she won 1st place in Ms. Towny, and was also a 3rd degree black belt in martial arts trained by Erie’s own Billy Blanks.
In addition to her parents, Claudia is preceded in death by her daughter, Claudia Porter, two nieces Rhonda Davis and Janeen Davis, and nephews Wesley Davis Jr. and Leslie Davis.
Claudia will be remembered by her daughter Shanta Simmons of Erie, sons Michale Cooley (Paige Collins) of Erie, and Joe Cooley, Jr. of Erie, sisters Lavette Eddy (Everett) of Erie, Irma Swain of Louisville, KY, Betty Davis (Wesley) of Erie, Erma Martin (Gregory) of Erie, and Fannie Hamilton (Michael) of Erie, brother L. B. Cooley Jr. of Erie, three grandchildren Myosia Cooley, Payton Hibbler, and Zamiyah Cooley, all of Erie, and great-grandchild Maliyah Cooley of Erie, and fiancé Joe Cooley of Erie.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 2021 from 4:00 pm until the time of the service at 6:00 pm at Edward J. Garr Funeral Home, 459 E. 12th St. Erie, PA 16503.
