Irene M. Demyan Chrzanowski, 98, formerly of 914 Reed Street, passed away on November 23, 2018. She was born September 16, 1920 to the late Andrew and Anna (Zayac) Demyan.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John Joseph Chrzanowski in 1998, brothers, Andrew, John, and two infant brothers, sisters, Susan, Mildred, Betty, Anne, and grandson, Brian Jackson.
Irene was born in Widen,WV but grew up in Beauty, KY. She worked for Pulakos Chocolates. She enjoyed baking, gardening and playing bingo. Irene was a member of St. Stanislaus Moms Club. She was fluent in three languages: Polish, English, and Hungarian. She was very proud of her Hungarian and southern heritage and embraced the Polish Heritage of Erie, where she fit right in.
Irene is survived by daughters, William (Elizabeth) Jackson of Rochester, NY, Kathleen Conover of Richmand, VA, two sons, "D.J." John Michael Chrzanowski (Jan) of Erie, Andrew Christopher Chrzanowski of Richmond, VA, and former wife Peggy of FL, grandchildren, John Michael, Amanda, Tina, Christopher, Daniel, Kimberly, Dacia, four great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews, but had a very special relationship with two nieces Nera Sue Demyan and Sissy Horwath. Irene is also survived by many family members of both the Chrzanowski and Urbaniak families.
Relatives and friends may call at the Edward J. Garr Funeral Home, Inc., 459 East 12th Street Erie, PA 16503 on Friday November 30, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Services will be at the funeral home on Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Stanislaus Church at 10:00 AM. Burial will be in Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Stanislaus Church, 516 East 13th Street, Erie, PA 16503 or the Alzheimer's Association 4261, 1600 Peninsula Drive, Erie, PA 16505.
