Iola “Owee” (Knight) Stalworth was born on November 2, 1922 to the late Tim and Myrtle (Whitten) Knight in Soso, Mississippi. After a short illness, she was called home to be with Her Lord and Savior on Thursday, February 4, 2021.
On June 21,1945, Louis B. Stalworth and Iola Knight were united in holy matrimony. In 1948, Iola left Mississippi and moved to Erie, PA.
Iola accepted Christ at an early age. After moving to Erie, she became a founding member of the Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she served for over fifty years and later became a member of House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church where, she was a member for over seventeen years. She held the position of President of the Missionary Board, Mothers Board and Choir Member. She was active in the community where she was involved in church outreach programs to include: food and clothing drives, community festivals, church plays and Black History programs.
Iola worked at the Lawrence Hotel, Booker T Washington Center for twenty-two years and The Suburban YMCA. Iola played basketball for the Booker T. Washington Center and Volunteers of America. She loved to watch her favorite players, Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neil. Iola was an avid watcher of CNN and active in registering people to vote. She was most proud of witnessing the Breaking History of the first Black President and first Female Black Vice President of the United States. Iola was an establishing member of the First Bi-Annual Knight Family Reunion that started in 1977 and is still going strong today.
Iola was preceded in death by one son, Aze Moffett; three sisters; Gettie Wheeler, Ida B. Knight-Hicks, and Velma Knight-Moffett; two brothers; Leonard, and Major Knight.
Iola leaves to cherish her loving memory her children Daniel Moffett Sr. (Charlene), Evelyn L. Myers and great niece Nicole Smith: two sisters Georgiann Jones-Hunter (Augusta, Ga) and Ines Dixon; one brother McLoyd Knight (Compton, Ca): grandchildren, Dellrea Ellis (Charles), Earl Wilson, Daniel Moffett Jr. (Amber), Isaiah Moffett, Deandre Moffett (Tiara), Davionne Moffett, Gabriel Richter, Deasia Moffett, Karly Moffett, and Kyle Moffett, eighteen great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends

Following all Covid-19 guidelines, visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 from 11:00 am until 12:00 pm at House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church, 155 E. 21st St. Erie, PA 16503. Funeral service and burial at Erie Cemetery are private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the senior citizen charity of one’s choice.
