Obituary

Linda Johnson, 73, of Erie, passed away on July 24, 2021 at home, surrounded by her love ones.She was born on August 21, 1947 in Erie, Pa, daughter of The Late  Great George and Mary Lee (Jones ) Simmons.

Linda graduated from Gannon University where she accomplished two degrees a bachelor's in master of science and paralegal studies a associate's in theology. She worked a O.I.C as a secretary  then on to G.E for many years  She then decided to follow her dream being a professional seamstress,  sewing to her was like a heartbeat, she wasn't into it for the money. She just loved making people's dreams come true, her Signature Tag was "Designed Especially For You By Suzie."  Linda enjoyed bingo, scrabble, watching Forensic files and 48 hours, but most of all, she enjoyed her family. She dedicated her life to assist her daughter in raising her five grandchildren, a job she took pride in, and done beautifully.


In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother,  The Late Great Chis and Mary (Pugh) Jones; two sisters, Patricia A. Jones and Annette C. Simmons; granddaughter, Sahni Thompson, grandson, Jeremiah Thompson,  two great nephews, Marcell Jones and Mitchel Jones,  a niece Erica Lucas, goddaughter Unique Jones and a very special uncle Percy Jones, Sr., and her dearest friends Dorothy Mae Carson Lofton and Barbara Ann DeBerry.


She will live on through her survivors, her daughter, who is the apple of her eye Cynthia Johnson (Douglas), two granddaughters, Miya Johnson (Stephen) and Jiaonna Lucas, three grandsons, George Johnson (Lachanda), Ryan Johnson, Tyree Crockett, Sr., all of Erie and twelve beautiful great grandchildren, three nephews, Maurice Jones (Patricia), Dallas, Texas, Michael Jones, Erie, PA, Marshall Jones, Atlanta, GA, five nieces, Melissa, Monica, and Tammy Jones (Garry), Jamiee Smith, and a very Special Niece Monique Sophia Jones, all of Erie, a best friend, Helen Gamble Johnson of Perry Hall, MD. 

A "Special Thank You" goes to UPMC Family Hospice Care.


In honoring Linda's wishes, she will be viewed at her home on Monday, August 2, 2021 from 11:00 am until the time of her family service at 12:00 pm with Pastor Daryl Craig officiating.  Burial will be private.  Arrangements are being handled by Davis-Garr Cremation and Funeral Services, Inc., 459 East 12th Street, Erie, PA 16503.
