Tyrus “LC” Bailey, age 73, of Erie, passed away on December 11, 2020 at UPMC Hamot. He was born on June 20, 1947 in Chatanooga, TN to the late George and Mary (Wofford) Bailey.
LC graduated from the Howard School of Academics/Tech, and later studied at Mercyhurst College before worked for many years at the Keystone Foundry. He was a member and chairman of the Trustee Ministry at Community Missionary Baptist Church. He was a 40 year member of Elks Lodge 328, a 15 year house chairman for the Elks, and the president of the Soulsville Bowling League and of the Wednesday night East Way Lanes Bowling League. He loved spending time with his family, playing spades, bowling, fishing, golfing, and we can’t forget about his Miami Dolphins football team.
In addition to his parents, LC is preceded in death by his brother, George Bailey, Jr., sisters Mamie McCain, Annette McCoy, and Roena Paris, and his first wife Claytean (Sledge) Bailey.
LC is survived by his wife, Jettie Bailey, children Deaundra Bailey-Jones, Tonya Bailey-Gray, Vernon Bailey (Starr), Tyreika Bailey-Tate, Titania Bailey-Bennett (Roy), Tomeka Bailey-Brown, Felicia Blakely-Cooley, Dwayne Pou, Grifton Earl Pou, and Angela Pou-Tate, 31 grandchildren, 59 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild, brothers George Bailey, Jr. and William C. Bailey, Sr. (Claudette), special nephew, William C. Bailey, Jr. (Putney), special niece Zundra M. Bailey, and best friend, Dennis Hayes.
Following all current Covid-19 guidelines, visitation will be held on Saturday, December 19, 2020 from 10:00 am until the time of the service at 12:00 pm at Second Baptist Church, 757 E. 26th St. Erie, PA 16504. Burial will follow at Lakeside Cemetery.
